Culture

Several of the Bolevec ponds were created in the middle of the 15th century. At 102.26 metres, the tower of St. Bartholomew's Cathedral is the tallest church tower in the Czech Republic. Construction of the cathedral began when the city was founded in 1295 and was completed in the early 16th century.

The permanent exhibition “Tady žili Židé.” is located in the upper galleries of the Great Synagogue. The Semler Residence is the only realization in the Loos style based on the Raumplan principle and can be visited as part of guided tours.

At the Puppet Museum, visitors can move the puppets themselves and put on their own theatre performance on stage. The historic visitor route through the underground is approximately 800 metres long and runs nine to twelve metres below ground.

Excursions

The Romanesque Rotunda of St. Peter and Paul can be reached on foot via a marked educational trail and offers views of the surrounding area. It is one of the oldest intact surviving church buildings of its kind in the Czech Republic.

Near Plzeň-City District, Radyně Castle was founded by Charles IV in the middle of the 14th century to protect the Prague–Bavaria trade route.
