Pohorsko: Hotels and Accommodations

The Pohorsko protected area protects the critically endangered Czech subspecies of the early-flowering spring gentian (Gentianella praecox subsp. bohemica). It was first designated on February 14, 2012.

Nature

Pohorsko lies on the northern slope of the Královský kámen (1,058 m above sea level) and Ždánov (1,065 m above sea level) mountains. The Pohorsko protected area comprises meadows approximately 200 to 500 meters south of Pohorsko, below the road leading from the village to a forester’s lodge. Pohorsko offers a beautiful view to the north; on the opposite side rises the ridge of the Javornická hornatina.

History and Culture

Pohorsko was first mentioned in writing in 1413. At a junction of side roads in Pohorsko stands a monument to the victims of the First World War.

The Chapel of St. Procopius in Pohorsko was consecrated in July 2001; the first pilgrimage in Pohorsko took place on July 4.

The inscription “V ráji šumavském” can still be read today on the former U Blahoutů inn.

Location

Public transport does not run to Pohorsko. The roads from Strašín and Nezdice end in Pohorsko.
