Bednárec: Hotels and Accommodations

Culture

The Chapel of Panny Marie was built in 1795 on the village square of Bednárec. It has a polygonal bell tower with an onion dome. The Pietà of Bednárec, a late Gothic wooden sculpture from the beginning of the 16th century, is also part of the local tradition and art history. The Pietà remains the property of the municipality of Bednárec and is part of the permanent exhibition in Hluboká.

On the route from Jarošov nad Nežárkou to Bednárec, a reconciliation stone still stands before Bednárec. It is believed to mark the presumed grave of a man and a woman from the Swedish Wars.

Nature

The Lipina protected area lies along the banks of the meanders of the Žirovnička stream in Bednárec. Lipina is a natural monument in the South Bohemian Region. The area was established to protect an original lime-oak forest typical of the warmer parts of the Bohemian-Moravian Highlands.

East of Bednárec, in Černý les, there is a cascade of four ponds. These include Jílků malý, Šedivů, Obecní velký, and Obecní malý. Two water pools with adjacent wetlands were created at the edge of Obecní velký Pond. Measures at the pond increased its retention capacity and biodiversity in its immediate surroundings.

Geographical Setting

From the upper Kopec district in Bednárec, there is a view of the Jindřichův Hradec and Kamenice areas. The view from the Kopec lookout also extends to the Novohrad Mountains and the Bohemian Forest. In exceptionally clear conditions, the Alps can also be seen from there.

A railway line runs on an embankment several metres high directly above the village square of Bednárec.
