Borova Lada: Hotels and Accommodations

In the vicinity of Borová Lada, the trail to Chalupská slať begins at the Svinná Lada parking area, 1 km from Borová Lada in the direction of Kvilda. Chalupská slať offers a 1 km trail there with a low level of difficulty. At the end of the trail, you can see the Czech Republic’s largest peat bog lake, covering an area of 1.2 hectares, as well as the surrounding peat bog area.

Nature

In July and August, Rybí líheň Borová Lada offers a public tour every Tuesday at 10 a.m., accompanied by a member of the fish hatchery staff. The breeding ponds of Rybí líheň Borová Lada can be reached via a flat grassy area with no incline.

Sovinec Borová Lada is an outdoor aviary complex housing owls from the Šumava forests in an old quarry near Borová Lada. Observation peepholes also allow visitors to observe details of the owls’ lives, such as nesting and feeding.

The 62 km Vltavský Circuit leads via Kvilda, Knížecí Pláně, Strážný, Lenora, Horní Vltavice, and Borová Lada back to Kvilda.

Culture and History

The original Chapel of the Elevation of the Holy Cross, dedicated to Saint Anne, was built in 1860. The Chapel of the Elevation of the Holy Cross (Saint Anne Chapel) and the adjacent Stations of the Cross were demolished in 1956 and restored in 2006.

Knížecí Pláně belongs to the municipality of Borová Lada and is an important junction of hiking and cycling trails. The cemetery and the foundations of the church façade were restored in Knížecí Pláně.

The LES nature trail is suitable for families with small children.
