Routes and sightseeing

Netolice can be explored via the approximately 3 km short circular route of the Historická krajina Netolicko educational trail. The route leads to important cultural monuments in Netolice and includes 16 stations with information boards in three languages. At the Netolice Archaeopark, visitors can access a defensive walkway and enjoy views over the palisade towards the town. The circular route thus combines short stretches with several marked stops and an insight into the history of the town.

The Historická krajina Netolicko cycling route runs through gently rolling terrain on paved paths and can be divided into several shorter stages. For planning your own day, the two route options can be compared by length and structure; a short format and a route that can be divided into stages represent different time models. The educational trail organizes the sightseeing around 16 stations, while the cycling route is characterized primarily by its division into several sections. In this way, two different ways of discovering Netolice and its historic surroundings are highlighted.

Culture

On Svatý Ján Hill, the Přemyslid hillfort preserves the massive ramparts of the former princely administrative castle. The Muzeum JUDr. Otakara Kudrny is located in the Renaissance building Rožmberský dům in Netolice. Sgraffiti have been preserved on the façades, and the building also features an arcaded front. The Muzeum JUDr. Otakara Kudrny in Netolice owns more than 170,000 original historic postcards. The hillfort, museum building and collection each represent a distinct focus within the town’s history.

The Church of Saint Wenceslas is an originally Gothic building with Romanesque elements and dates from the second half of the 13th century. The Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary was built in the Gothic style in the second half of the 13th century. The different architectural forms can be viewed as separate cultural highlights during a visit. Both churches originated in the second half of the 13th century; at the same time, they differ in the architectural character described here.

Landscape and water

Kratochvíle Chateau is a Renaissance hunting château approximately 2 km northwest of Netolice. West of the outskirts of Netolice, the former Rožmberk game preserve, historically, scenically and from a heritage-conservation perspective unique, extended across the present-day administrative areas of Netolice, Lhenice, Hracholusky and Malovice. The 30-hectare Podroužek pond is used for swimming.

City event

On Saturday, 24 May 2025, the Netolice town celebrations took place, featuring an Old Bohemian craft market on Linecká stezka from 10 a.m. The date and the 10 a.m. start provide the event’s timing; the craft market was part of the town celebrations.
