Culture

The Chapel of the Holy Cross stands on the site of a former plague cemetery dating from the 17th century. The present chapel was built after a storm destroyed the previous chapel in 1929 and was consecrated in 1931. Next to the chapel is an enclosed stone cross commemorating Stanislav Čunát; his name also appears on the memorial plaque.

The Chapel of Saint Wenceslas dates from 1881 and is dedicated to Saint Wenceslas, the patron saint of the Czech lands. After earlier bells had been removed twice because of wars, the municipality purchased a new bell for the Chapel of Saint Wenceslas in 1946. This bell is still in service today.

A more recent addition is the Chapel of Saint Saturninus, built in 2006 by locally active members of the Vejrovské zemanství association.

The Prohledárium Vejrovského zemanství Museum is located in the Branice Cultural Centre. Its exhibitions focus on the 20th century, the Second World War, and commemorating the victims of fascism and communism. The museum presents history with humour. Salons for drawn humour entitled “V obci Branice Vám rozhýbeme bránice” are also held there regularly.
