Skály: Hotels and Accommodation

Skály is located approximately 4.5 km as the crow flies northwest of Protivín on the Protivín–Strakonice railway line. The Klokočínské louky nature monument area lies within the administrative territory of the municipality of Skály.

Culture and History

The Budičovice heritage zone preserves protected agricultural farmsteads dating mainly from the 19th century and, in some cases, the early 20th century. Both their material substance and their spatial arrangement have been preserved. The Chapel of St. John of Nepomuk also shapes the appearance of Budičovice village square; it dates from around 1875.

The architectural features of Budičovice include richly decorated façades in the South Bohemian peasant Baroque style with raised wing edges, as well as simple Classicist half-hipped triangular gables.

Božejovice Fortress stands on a promontory extending from the dam of the Tvrzský rybník pond. It is privately owned and not accessible to the public.

Cycling Routes

The official cycling loop leads from Skály on a short detour to the immediately adjacent Budičovice. Another cycling loop leads from Budičovice via Božovice through a quiet landscape with ponds and forests.

Geographical Context

The Zdoba mountain is located near Skály. In the immediate vicinity are the Skály hill [Skály u Protivína] and the Polanka hill [Skály u Protivína]. The Chlum mountain is also located in the wider regional area.

The Radomysl Mediumwave Radio Mast ruins and Hrad Zvíkov Castle are also located in the wider regional area of Skály. Two recorded locations of the Svatý Jan church are also situated there: one at 49.33333° north latitude and 14.30000° east longitude, and another at 49.43333° north latitude and 14.26667° east longitude.
