Culture and History

The former inn No. 17 is probably the oldest surviving building in Chotýčany. Together with its gate, barn, and stable, it is protected as a historic monument. The protected Chapel of Saint John of Nepomuk stands next to Building No. 17 on the village square. It includes a statue on a tall Baroque pedestal dating from the second half of the 18th century. The Chapel of Saint Wenceslas in Chotýčany was consecrated on September 28, 1882.

The village square in Chotýčany is considered an urban-planning asset; its use is subject to requirements for the design of a historic public space. In favorable weather, the view from the village square extends as far as the Šumava region, including the Boubín summit. A Masopustní průvod, featuring a mask event for adults, takes place regularly in Chotýčany.

Nature and Landscape

Roklina Strouhy is a registered significant landscape feature in Chotýčany. A further registered significant landscape feature in the municipality is an oak tree on the western edge of the village.

The Chotýčany educational trail is a forest nature trail with information boards about the local nature. It was extended into a circular route by adding further information boards. The trail covers, or makes it possible to observe, animals, birds, insects, butterflies, fungi, flowers, and trees of the local forest. The trail is not suitable for strollers.
