Rejta can be explored through specific places, routes, and events passed down through generations. The documented traces range from a chapel and historic buildings to bodies of water, an educational trail, and the Masopust tradition.
Culture and History
The Chapel of the Ascension of the Lord is part of Rejta’s history. It was consecrated on May 11, 1899, while its foundation stone bears the date April 6, 1896. In 2020, the chapel was completely reconstructed and submitted in the “small renewal” category to the Památka roku 2020 competition in South Bohemia.
The Marouškův mlýn has been documented in writing since 1532 and is considered probably the oldest known building in the area of present-day Rejta. The Hamr has also preserved its original furnishings.
A tradition of its own is the Doudlebský masopust, which is celebrated in Rejta every year as a carnival tradition on the seventh Sunday before Easter. During a Masopust procession, the route began in front of the Na tahu inn and was arranged so that no house was left out.
Nature and Bodies of Water
The Velký rybník in Rejta has a natural bathing area. The Velký rybník in the Rejta district of Trhové Sviny also served as a filming location for the Czech film “Pojedeme k moři”.
The Bosna pond, also known as “Obecňák”, has served as a fish-breeding pond since 2021. Fishing is prohibited there.
