Malsching: Hotels and Accommodation

Culture and History

The Church of the Sacred Heart of Jesus and its surrounding wall are registered as cultural monuments. The former early Gothic Church of St. Margaret is now the Church of the Sacred Heart of Jesus; it was rebuilt in 1593, remodelled in the Baroque style at the end of the 17th century, and altered again in the second half of the 19th century. The church sacristy clearly dates from the second half of the 13th century; the former Church of St. Margaret was first mentioned in writing in 1339.

The pilgrimage Chapel of Our Lady of Perpetual Help was built on Turmberg in 1856 and stands 450 m south of the church. At the site of the former guard castle near Thumberg Chapel, there are two benches with a view to the south and a covered rest area shelter with a waste bin.

Landscape

About half of Malšín’s cadastral area is forested; a large part of the area is used agriculturally as meadows and pastures. Remains of a rampart that surrounded the former tower or castle complex can be seen in the terrain around Turmberg. From Tumberg, there is an extensive view to the south over a hilly, forested landscape with meadows.

Cycle Paths

The Krumlovská cycle path passes through Malšín. The Velotrail 1–Frymbursko runs through Malšín. Malšín is also located on the 42.3 km-long Vyšší Brod–Malšín–Frymburk–Hořice na Šumavě cycle route.
