You would like to book a hotel in Bessenitz. Besednice lies at the foot of the Slepičí hory in a shallow depression that forms the watershed between the Malše and Stropnice rivers. Between sacred buildings, small museums, and viewpoints, the town reveals clear geographical and cultural connections.
Geographical Setting
The Baroque Church of St. Procopius in Besednice dates from 1738. It stands on elevated ground in the northern part of Besednice and is a prominent urban and landscape-defining feature. The complex includes statues of Saint Peter, Saint Paul, and Saint John of Nepomuk, gravestones, a mortuary, and the walls of the historic cemetery.
Culture
The municipal museum in Besednice has a permanent exhibition on civil protection. Another permanent exhibition at the Besednice Market Museum is dedicated to RAF pilot Vojtěch Smolík DFC. Every year, Besednice hosts the nationwide accordion gathering Setkání heligonkářů in memory of the victims of the Poříčská disaster.
Spirituality
The niche chapel of Saint John of Nepomuk stands in the center of Besednice, a few meters southwest of the municipal building. It can be reached via a seven-step stone staircase, and its niche contains a polychrome statue of Saint John of Nepomuk. Services are regularly held in the Betlémská Chapel, on the first and third Saturday of each month from 10 a.m.
Nature
Besednice is a suitable starting point for excursions to the peaks of the Slepičí hory. From the village square in Besednice, a green hiking trail marker leads to an unpaved field path that continues to Slabošovka.
Slabošovka is a 36 m-high telecommunications tower that serves as a lookout tower and was built in 2002. From the 24 m-high viewing platform, visitors can see the highest peak of the Slepičí hory, Kohout, as well as Kleť in the Blanský les, the peaks of the Novohradské hory, and Poluška. Besednické Vltavíny I is a deposit of gravel and sand containing vltavines, with vltavite remnants, deposited in a depression on crystalline bedrock.
