Mezná: Hotels and accommodations

On the village green in Mezná stands the former manor tavern No. 6, locally known as the “old tavern.” It dates back to the period of the Thirty Years’ War. The earliest tavern keeper documented by name was Martin Zámečník, who worked there from 1691 to 1697.

The former school building now houses the Mezná municipal office; since 2009, it has also been home to Hospůdka Ve Škole. The school in Mezná operated for a total of 68 years.

The Tvrziště Mezná fortification, with its circular ground plan, dates from the 14th century and is located approximately 300 meters southwest of the center of Mezná.

The Chapel of the Visitation of the Virgin Mary was built shortly after 1828. It replaced an earlier brick chapel or bell tower at the same location. In July 1934, the first pilgrimage took place in Mezná after repairs to the chapel.

The bronze bracelets and ceramic shards found in Mezná are currently held in the collections of the South Bohemian Museum in České Budějovice.

The “Planá nad Lužnicí” cycling tour passes through Chotěmice, Nová Ves, Mezná, and Kvasejovice, then continues along a better-maintained field road toward Zvěrotice.
