The Skalice rises in the Brdy Mountains. After joining the Lomnice near Zvíkov Castle, it becomes a right-bank tributary of the Otava.

Culture

The Church of Saint Clement in Mirovice is originally Gothic and was later redesigned in the Baroque style. A large Schwarzenberg coat of arms is located on its gable. The Marian Column, erected in 1717, stands on Masaryk Square.

The Mirovice Hussite Church hosts cultural and social events. These include concerts, exhibitions, lectures, and the annual Night of Churches.

The stone flood bridge in Mirovice was declared a cultural monument at the end of 2018.

History

The Jewish cemetery near Mirovice was probably established around 1680 in the cadastral area of Myslín. It lies in the valley behind the town on the eastern bank of the Skalice stream; around 240 gravestones have been preserved there.

Traces of extensive historical mining activity have been preserved in Slomínek near Mirovice, including abandoned quarry walls, spoil heaps, and an old mine structure. A tunnel containing quartz-rich gold-bearing veins has also been preserved in the area.
