Nature

The Ostrovský rybník, which belongs to Okrouhlá, covers 27.5 hectares. A large island lies in its middle and is first mentioned in written records in 1501. The Ostrovský rybník is also associated with a medieval fortress that, according to written records, existed in 1501. Archaeologically, however, it has not been confirmed that it was a fortress or the remains of a manor.

History and Buildings

Okrouhlá is home to a chapel of the Virgin Mary dating from 1887. It lies on the route from Milevsko via Sepekov, Líšnice, Okrouhlá, Křižanov and Jestřebice to the Kupa Lookout Tower.

The stone bridge in Okrouhlá over the Tábor–Ražice railway line dates from 1880. The old stone footbridge in Okrouhlá also crosses the Milevsko–Písek railway line. The stone bridge near Okrouhlá offers a view in the direction of Milevsko.

Okrouhlá originally belonged to the domain of Milevsko Monastery. Another stone cross stands on the road to Okrouhlá from the direction of Milevsko. According to the recollections of eyewitnesses, the municipality had a wayside shrine rebuilt on the eastern edge of Okrouhlá. The shrine contains a statue of Our Lady of Lourdes.

Routes

The Milevsko–Sepekov–Líšnice–Okrouhlá–Křižanov–Jestřebice–Kupa Lookout Tower route is a moderately difficult cycling or driving loop of approximately 17 kilometres.
