Nature

Existing hiking and cycling trails run along the banks of the Orlík Reservoir in the Olešná area. The Vltava and the Orlík Reservoir are considered the area's central potential for recreational use. In the immediate vicinity, the Skály viewpoint, about one kilometre south of Olešná, offers views of the Vltava within the Orlík Reservoir.

The Písecká Smoleč–Strouhy–Podolsko tourist route also passes through the area, connecting the most attractive places with natural sights. In the wider vicinity of Olešná, the Orlík Reservoir particularly attracts people interested in water sports and sailing.

Culture and history

In the immediate vicinity of Olešná, the Podolský Bridge on the Písek–Tábor road spans the Vltava. It was built between 1939 and 1943 and is 510 metres long. Olešná also has a listed bridge over the Velký potok.

At Chřešťovice, the Church of St John the Baptist from the 14th century stands on the left bank of the Vltava. In the past, it was reached from Olešná by ferry across the Vltava. The railway bridge at Červená nad Vltavou was also built in the immediate vicinity: construction took place between 1886 and 1889, and it is 253 metres long.

Tábor Mountain (Burkovák) lies five kilometres southeast of Olešná and is described as a Celtic sacred site as well as a Bronze Age and Hallstatt-period burial site. The Church of St Bartholomew in the immediate vicinity dates from 1190 and was relocated above the flood level in 1960 because of the construction of the Orlík Reservoir.

The Skalica sports complex in Olešná includes sports grounds with courts and a children's playground.
