Nature

The Novohradské Mountains Nature Park is also located within the administrative area of the municipality of Pohorská Ves. It protects an extensive mountain and foothill landscape with near-natural forests and meadows, bogs, ponds, and spring areas, as well as preserved historical features.

Together with the Hojná Voda Primeval Forest, the Žofínský prales is one of the oldest nature reserves in Central Europe. The Žofínský prales is home to trees up to 400 years old. The forest also preserves a remnant of the original primeval forest, which has been left to develop naturally.

Culture

St. Linhart Church dates back to 1787. It is a single-nave church with a wooden turret above the western façade. The building is being gradually restored, and through this restoration it is developing into a venue for liturgical and cultural activities. The history of Pohorská Ves dates back to the second half of the 18th century.

At the adjacent tourist information centre, visitors can look inside St. Linhart Church and learn about the history of its restoration. The information centre in Pohorská Ves also provides information about the region and about events organised by the municipal administration and the Terezie beautification association.

Cycling

The cycling tour “From Budějovice through the Novohradské Mountains” passes through Malonty and Pohorská Ves, reaching the highest point of the tour along the way. Cycle Route 1193 runs from Pohorská Ves via Huťský rybník and Pohoří na Šumavě to Dolní Příbrání.
