Nature

The surroundings of Přední Zborovice offer very good conditions for hiking. Remains of a medieval fortification can be viewed during walks in the dense coniferous forests above Přední Zborovice. Beyond Přední Zborovice, the Zlatá stezka leads to a fork below Mount Ostrá, offering a wide view toward the valley of the Volyňka.

The Volyňka cycling route passes through Přední Zborovice and runs from the source of the Volyňka in the Šumava to its confluence with the Otava in Strakonice. The section of the Volyňka flowing through Přední Zborovice is designated as a trout water.

Geographical Location

The Přední Zborovice stop is located on the eastern edge of the village on railway line 198 between Strakonice, Vimperk and Volary.

Culture

Near the Volyňka River, the Kaplička Ukřižování Páně chapel stands at the fork in the road to Sousedovice and Radošovice, between two mature, protected lime trees. It dates from the first half of the 18th century, is two metres high, has a rectangular ground plan and faces east.

The Boží muka dates from the 17th century and stands in a field between Přední Zborovice and Radošovice. It has three storeys separated by cornices, each becoming smaller toward the top. The stone bridge over the Volyňka was built between 1912 and 1913.

History

Finds of Roman coins and other objects of Roman origin indicate a historical route through Zborovice. In the time of Maria Theresa, Přední Zborovice lay on the so-called old road that led from Mýto (Mauth) in Bavaria toward Strakonice.

According to tradition, soldiers from the Swedish wars are buried beneath the Zborovické lípy. Historical records by merchants describe Přední Zborovice as a popular resting place after the strenuous descent from the forests of the Šumava.
