Nature
Autokemp Pohoda is located in beautiful surroundings at a former sand quarry, near the Lužnice River and approximately 10 km south of Tábor. During the summer months, Roudná is a popular destination for holidaymakers and anglers. A green-marked hiking trail also passes through the village.
In the European protected area “Lužnice and Nežárka,” the hermit beetle, weatherfish, freshwater pearl mussel and otter are among the protected species.
Culture and History
The Church of St John of Nepomuk in Janov was built in 1712 and consecrated in 1716. A chapel dedicated to Mary Help of Christians is located near the church. The Church of St John of Nepomuk became the religious centre of the surrounding communities of Roudná, Sedlečko, Myslkovice, Košice and Doubí.
The remains of an unknown concentration camp prisoner are located in the cemetery in Janov. They were found in the winter of 1944/45 after a death transport had passed behind the Roudná railway halt.
Pilgrimages have been held in Roudná since time immemorial. They are allegedly credited with prompting the beginnings of permanent settlement. A large lime tree in front of House No. 15 in Janov is listed as a cultural monument.
