Slavče lies at the northern foot of the Slepičí hory Mountains. The surrounding area consists of a hilly, forested landscape with almost untouched nature. The dominant landmark of Slavče and its districts is Mount Kohout, which reaches an elevation of 869 metres.

Nature

The Ďáblík nature reserve is located in the municipality of Slavče, in the Keblany cadastral area. It protects mesotrophic aquatic and wetland habitats with populations of endangered plant and animal species.

The area around Slavče offers opportunities for hiking. There are several viewpoints around the village offering views of the surrounding landscape. In summer, the forests around Slavče are used by mushroom and blueberry gatherers. Visitors can also walk through avenues of fruit trees with cherry, plum and pear trees in the surrounding area.

Culture and History

Slavče was founded sometime during the 12th century. The oldest written reference dates from 1186. Slavče is home to the Church of Saints Philip and James, a Neo-Gothic building constructed from 1903 to 1906. There is also a Baroque chapel from the 18th century in the village.

In the district of Lniště there are protected wayside shrines known as Boží muka, which are protected as a cultural monument. The tradition of Masopustní koleda is also still maintained in Slavče. An ethnographic study of the traditionally transmitted Masopustní koleda in the Doudlebsko region examined the area of the three closely neighbouring municipalities of Slavče, Dobrkovská Lhotka and Soběnov from 1999 to 2004.

The educational trail “Through the Landscape of Humanity” passes seven information boards. The boards introduce seven significant humanists from around the world.
