Slavonice: Hotels and Accommodation

The stone town tower of Slavonice was built in the first half of the 16th century next to the Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary. The town tower is open to the public; 144 stone and 32 wooden steps lead to the viewing platform.

Culture

The Lutheran place of worship in House No. 517 dates from the 16th century. Its wall paintings depict scenes from the Apocalypse.

One of the oldest buildings in Slavonice is the Church of the Body of God and the Holy Spirit. It stands on a hill above Slavonice, and its elevated position significantly shapes the character of the landscape around the town. Its interior contains numerous valuable architectural elements, particularly from the Late Gothic period.

The Slavonice fortification area illustrates part of the defensive line of the Czechoslovak Republic, which was built between 1935 and 1938. Five reconstructed structures in the fortification area are open to the public when the operator is present and are equipped with period equipment and weaponry.

Visit

The town museum is located in House No. 476 on Míru Square. The tourist information centre is also located on the ground floor of the same building.

Slavonické podzemí offers two guided routes: a shorter one measuring 136 metres and lasting approximately 30 minutes, and a longer, more demanding one measuring 380 metres and lasting approximately 60 minutes. The shorter route is illuminated and includes three stops with explanations provided by a guide.

Every first Saturday in August, the public battle demonstration “Přepadení řopíků 1938” regularly takes place from 2 p.m. in the Slavonice fortification area.

Nature

The Grasel Trail runs along footbridges above wetlands.
