Culture and History

A restored masonry chapel stands on the northern edge of Ústrašice. The present chapel was rebuilt in 2009 after the previous structure was destroyed in a car accident on 8 December 2008.
Ústrašice is first mentioned in 1405, when Václav Tóma z Ústrašic held the village.
Nature
The protected features identified in the Lužnice area include the habitats of the critically endangered thick-shelled river mussel (Unio crassus), the endangered weather loach (Misgurnus fossilis) and the critically endangered Eurasian otter (Lutra lutra).
