Culture and History

The Church of St. Nicholas was built in 1903 in the Neo-Romanesque style on the site of a small Gothic church and consecrated on 4 August 1903. Its church tower is 45 metres high. The local cultural landscape also includes Osmičkové náměstí, regarded as the only square of its kind in the Czech Republic.

Kopeček lies on a gentle slope east of Šaratice between the Šaratice–Hrušky and Šaratice–Milešovice roads. The hill is approximately five metres high and is bounded on its north-eastern side by a ditch and an embankment.

Šaratica water has been extracted at the Kalužiny site since 1896. The Šaratica catchment area lies in the landscape around Újezd u Brna. Protection zones were established for the natural healing spring, specifically by Decree IL-480.4 of 21 June 1963.

Events and Activities

The Dopravní stezka Šaratice was offered in Šaratice in 2026, with 15 stations focused on traffic signs and road safety. Participants could pick up a puzzle map, visit all the stations, decipher a final solution and receive a small gift.

At the Tradiční Šaratické hody 2026, a procession through the municipality followed the taking of the stárkovský oath and the handover of the hodové právo.

Regional Specialities

At the Brunch na farní zahradě in Šaratice on 18 July 2026, participants could bring a sweet or savoury dish for the shared table.

From 18 to 31 August 2026, Vinotéka Daněk v láhvi offered Burčák made from the Muškát grape variety for CZK 95 per litre. Collection was possible in Šaratice by prior arrangement on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
