Račice-Pístovice: Hotels and Accommodation
Račice-Pístovice can be explored through several clearly distinguishable local features, and it is also possible to find a hotel for an overnight stay.
History and Architecture
In the southwestern part of Račice, Zámek Račice is the dominant landmark. The complex developed from a Gothic castle dating from the mid-13th century into a Renaissance chateau, which Hanuš Haugvic had rebuilt between 1568 and 1585. In the 1830s, Baron Mundy modified it in the Empire style.
The main palace of Zámek Račice is currently being renovated. Therefore, all sightseeing tours are temporarily closed, and guided tours are not currently available.
The chateau grounds include the Church of the Annunciation of the Virgin Mary. It can be visited during services or on special occasions announced by the municipality.
Near the entrance to Račice, statues of Saint Florian and Saint Wendelin dating from the mid-18th century stand on the road bridge over the main road. They are in the High Baroque style and come from the workshop of the renowned Olomouc sculptor J. A. Heinze.
Nature and Trails
Račice is surrounded by relatively high, densely forested hills. The Rakovecké Valley is used year-round for walks and is a popular area for hiking and cycling tourism.
The Rakovec educational trail is 7 km long and includes 10 information panels on the history, geology, flora, and fauna of the area. It begins about 2 km beyond Račice in the direction of Ruprechtov, at the Jermak memorial.
The Jermak memorial commemorates the landing of a parachute group in 1944.
