The Lubě stream originates in Lubě in the Blansko District through the confluence of smaller streams.

Nature

The Lubě stream is approximately 22 kilometres long. Its upper course runs through valleys.

Krkatá bába is a rock formation above the left bank of the Lubě stream, approximately 1 kilometre from Lubě in the Žernovnická hrást. The rock formations extend for approximately 500 metres along the left bank. At the southern end of the Krkatá bába gorge are several rock towers and boulders up to 15 metres high.

The formations of Krkatá bába consist of reddish Rokytná conglomerates from the Boskovice Graben, dating from the Carboniferous to the Permian. Rare, regionally highly endangered thermophilic plant species occur at the Krkatá bába locality, including common juniper, one-seeded hawthorn, two-leaved gnat orchid and crested hair-grass.

Culture

The Chapel of the Nativity of the Virgin Mary is a locally significant cultural heritage site in Lubě.

Things to do

Cycle route 5268 passes through Lubě. Krkatá bába can be reached via a walkable tourist trail located more than 250 metres from the road.

The “Údolím říčky Lubě” route is suitable for hikers and cyclists. The “Údolím říčky Lubě” tour runs in the surroundings of the Moravian Karst.
