Mackovice: Hotels and accommodations

A settlement from the La Tène period has been archaeologically documented in Mackovice. At the same time, the village is considered one of the oldest settlements in the Znojmo District. A find in a field between Mackovice and Načeraticemi also points to a long history: a Roman coin from AD 75 was found there.

The Church of the Betrothal of the Virgin Mary is a Baroque church and a distinctive landmark on a hill above Mackovice village square. It was expanded from a chapel built in 1712. This historic building heritage is complemented by the Poklona Chapel from the 1860s and the Boží Muka wayside shrine, which dates from the mid-19th century.

The surrounding landscape includes the Břežanka and Břežanský rybník Natura 2000 site. It comprises floodplain wetlands in the valley of the Břežanka stream and protects Desmoulin's whorl snail (Vertigo moulinsiana).

Viticulture in Mackovice is documented as early as the Middle Ages: the upper wine-growing right granted in 1390 shows that grapevines were already being cultivated there at that time. The traditional krojované hody also form part of the annual cultural calendar. They are considered Mackovice's most important cultural event and take place in July.

The marked Mezi poli a vinohrady cycling route passes through Mackovice. The route is 25 km long and runs mainly along lightly trafficked roads and farm tracks.
