Nature

Kadovská skála was designated a natural monument with effect from 1 June 2022. The rock formation is located near Kadov and is a former limestone quarry with a natural character. Numerous rare plants grow at Kadovská skála.

Culture

The Church of Saints Philip and James has an Early Gothic presbytery with a Late Gothic reconstruction, as well as a nave and a tower dating from the end of the 15th century. Since 1822, it has been dedicated to these two saints; in the same year, it was extended by the Chapel of Saint Margaret.

Kadov was first mentioned in written records in 1235. From 1230 to 1400, the parish of Kadov was under the patronage of the Dubravnik convent of nuns. The historic villagescape also includes the cemetery gate with a Pietà dated 1734, as well as statues of Saint Roch, Saint Sebastian and Saint Rosalia. On the village square stands the statue of Saint John of Nepomuk, dated 1738 and a high-quality example of High Baroque sculpture. In front of the church there is a Baroque gate with statues.

On the outskirts of Kadov stands a small sacred structure of the Boží muka type. It has been preserved without a lantern, dates from the late 16th century and serves as a distinctive landmark.

Events and Cycling

In Kadov, a pilgrimage celebration is held on the Sunday after the feast of Saints Philip and James, around 3 May. The hody festival is likewise held on the Sunday around the feast day of Saint Bartholomew, around 24 August.

The Bartolomějské hody festival was scheduled to take place in Kadov on 22 August 2026 at 3:00 p.m. A Stations of the Cross walk dedicated to the Virgin Mary was scheduled for Sunday, 22 March 2026, with the meeting point at 3:00 p.m. at the church in Kadov.

Kadov was one of eight participating municipalities in the Miroslavskem cycling tour held in 2025. During this cycling tour, the station in Kadov was located at the bus stop.
