Chodouny: Hotels and Accommodation

Chodouny displays its village character around a square village green: the regular, enclosed development corresponds to the Angerdorf village type, whose origins, together with the first written references, date back to the first half of the 13th century.

Culture

A statue of Saint John of Nepomuk stands on the landscaped square village green. The Baroque work from the 18th century stands on a pedestal with a relief of the Mother of God.

The rural property No. 15 is registered as an immovable cultural monument. It is a single-storey building with carved wooden decorative framework.

Landscape

Since 1996, a black pine (Pinus nigra) in the southern part of Chodouny’s municipal area has been designated as a commemorative tree. The protected black pine stands alone in a cultivated field. The protected black pine in front of Chodouny is more than 200 years old.

The Elbe is a defining landscape feature of Lounky.

Connections

A section of the Elbe Cycle Route, Labská stezka, runs through Chodouny and connects Roudnice nad Labem with Litoměřice. Bus route 684 connects Roudnice nad Labem, Chodouny and Litoměřice. Chodouny has a bus stop on the village green.

History

The Church of Saint Nicholas in Lounky is a rare example of rural Gothic architecture. Its existence is documented as early as the 12th century; the oldest surviving masonry dates from the first half of the 14th century. In the 17th century, the church was remodelled in the Baroque style.

Archaeological finds indicate that Chodouny was already settled during the Lusatian culture. A memorial stone in Chodouny commemorates the first written reference to the village.

The classic Czech film musical “Starci na chmelu” was filmed in Lounky in 1964. A monument with a memorial plaque next to the former school building in Lounky commemorates the victims of the Second World War.
