Křižanov: Hotels and Accommodation

A Romanesque church probably already stood on the site of today’s Church of St. Wenceslas in the 11th century. The first written mention of the Church of St. Wenceslas dates from 1239; the present presbytery dates from the Gothic reconstruction in the 14th century. Saint Zdislava was born in Křižanov around 1220 as the first child of Přibyslav and Sybila.

The Chapel of St. Barbara has an early medieval core and is located at the corner of Zámek and Bezručova streets. Křižanov’s tourist attractions also include the Chapel of St. John of Nepomuk on Masaryk Square and the Marian Column on Benešovo Square.

In the historic centre of Křižanov, the monument to Saint Zdislava is a modern sacred element; Křižanov is described as the saint’s birthplace. The central element of the monument is a bronze sculpture of Saint Zdislava by the sculptor Otmar Oliva. The monument includes a round fountain and a ring of twelve granite columns.

The Zdislavská pouť takes place in Křižanov every year at the end of May. In the vicinity of Křižanov, a picturesque open-air pilgrimage chapel stands on Svatá hora, now visited not only by the faithful but also by tourists seeking peace away from the hustle and bustle of the modern world.

There are numerous forested areas within the territory of Křižanov. There are also fields, meadows and field margins. Thus, both forested and agriculturally used areas form part of the town’s territory.

The Křižanov Aeroclub airfield hosts national-level sport flying competitions and sightseeing flights. Středověký podvečer is one of the best-known cultural and social events in Křižanov.
