Tasov: Hotels and Accommodation
Tasov combines prominent evidence of ecclesiastical, literary, and castle history with the rocky Oslava Valley and a signposted cycle route. As a result, a variety of historical and landscape features stand side by side in the town and its surroundings.
Culture and History
The parish church of St Peter and St Paul was rebuilt in the Baroque style between 1728 and 1730 from a Gothic presbytery and nave, and extended with a Baroque tower. A large part of the masonry of the early Gothic Church of St Peter is preserved in the walls of the present parish house, built in 1730. The grave of the writer Jakub Deml is located in the old cemetery next to the Church of St Peter and St Paul.
The Hrádek ruins preserve the remains of a circular wall and a gate of a Gothic fortress dating from around 1390. Also associated with Jakub Deml is the former villa, designed in 1921 by the Brno architect Bohuslav Fuchs.
The Vysočina Literary Memorial is housed in Tasov’s former civic school building. It displays some of Jakub Deml’s original furniture, designed by Bohuslav Fuchs; its library also contains documents and books by Jakub Deml. A visit can be arranged with Ms Tereza Axmanová.
Landscape and Trails
The signposted Mlynářská cycle route No. 5109 runs through the Oslava Valley to Tasov. The surrounding area features the picturesque, rocky Oslava Valley and erratic boulders. Nearby, a detour from Panský mlýn leads to the ruins of Dub Castle.
