Písečné lies in a valley where numerous springs form a stream that flows into the Vír Reservoir. Marked hiking trails run through the village. A green-marked section of the “Bystřickem za vůní kávy” hiking route leads to Písečné and then continues to Kříb Hill.
Landscape
Kříb Hill [Písečné] is located in the vicinity of Písečné. Kočíko and Librův Kopec are hills in the surroundings of Písečné; Babylon is a hill in the wider regional area. In summer, the nearby Pletenice and Holotín forests are visited by mushroom gatherers because of their abundance of wild forest produce.
History and Culture
The Na Bojisku pond is associated with a local legend. According to the legend, it was said to have been full of blood after a battle during the Swedish Wars. An iron cross on the village square in Písečné dates from 1863.
First Lieutenant Václav Jílek was born in Písečné. He was a military pilot and took part in the Battle of Britain.
Events
Motocross races are regularly held at the Písečská Zmole venue. Construction of the motocross track began in 1959; Miroslav Hakl initiated the construction that year. The first race of the regional motocross championship at Písečská Zmole took place in 1962. Later, races of the Motocross World Championship were also held at Písečská Zmole.
