Víska: Hotels and accommodations
Víska lies in the foothills of the Železné hory and in the Doubrava Valley. The Novoveský potok stream flows through the built-up area from west to east; as a left tributary of the Doubrava, it flows through Víska. At the eastern edge of Víska, the Blatnický potok stream flows into the Doubrava from the right.
Nature, trails and surroundings
Víska lies on the road between Nová Ves u Chotěboře and Maleč. In the surrounding area, an educational trail runs through the entire valley of the Údolí Doubravy Nature Reserve. Southwest of Víska lies the 452 m-high Rouzeň hill, which can be reached on foot; the hill contains abandoned marl quarries.
Cycle Route No. 1 also passes through Víska. Of the several ponds near Víska, Společný Pond is considered the most significant.
Memorial sites and local history
The Víska war memorial stands in the square in front of the municipal office. The lower plaque commemorates those who fell in the Second World War from 1939 to 1945. A stone cross dating from 1879 stands in a small park in front of the municipal office; a memorial to those who fell in the First and Second World Wars stands nearby.
The school building in Víska is adorned with a statue of Jan Amos Komenský. František Šumpich, born in 1913 in Víska u Chotěboře, is among the victims whose names are commemorated on war memorials in their respective places of origin – including Víska.
