Proseč U Humpolce: Hotels and Accommodation

A notable testament to the local history of Proseč is the fortress, with archaeological traces. Within the municipality, it is a state-protected immovable cultural monument.

Culture

The fortress probably dates back to the late 14th century. It was presumably used exclusively for economic purposes together with the adjacent farmstead and was ultimately abandoned after losing this function. Proseč also has a chapel listed as a monument of local importance.

Geographical setting

Proseč lies on road III/34761, approximately 10 kilometres north of Humpolec. The village is situated in the Křemešnická vrchovina, which forms part of the Českomoravská vrchovina. The landscape is characterised by a varied hilly and upland terrain used for forestry and agriculture.

The Meziklaský potok flows northwards along the eastern and northern boundaries of the municipality of Proseč. Brádla Hill reaches just under 626 metres at the eastern boundary of the municipality of Proseč and lies above G. Mahler Way.

Paths and routes

The marked Rohule–Humpolec hiking route passes through Proseč from south to north. Another marked route is named after the composer Gustav Mahler and runs through Proseč in an east–west direction.

The Stezka poznání is an approximately 130-kilometre-long, challenging educational route with 52 stations, 42 of them featuring information boards. It focuses on history, nature and points of interest and is intended for cyclists or motorised road users. The Stezka poznání ends in Proseč near Humpolec.

Cycle Route No. 211 leads from Kaliště through Proseč onwards towards Záběhlice.
