Bratřice lies below the 744 m-high Stražiště Hill, which the municipality describes as the dominant landscape feature of the entire region. Forests, paths, a swimming pool, and the nearby Černý rybník shape the distinctive character of the place.

Nature

There are hiking trails in the forests around Bratřice. Paved paths around the village are suitable for cycling, and Bratřice has a swimming pool. Černý rybník is a natural site near Bratřice. Nearby springs help keep the pond’s water clear for a long time. It is somewhat cool, but invites swimming during a large part of the summer.

Trails

The Sovova educational trail leads from Pacov via Bratřice and Stražiště Mountain to Lukavec. From Bratřice, a 5 km access route leads to the destination at Stražiště as part of the Sovovou stezkou na vrch Stražiště trail. The Chapel of St. John the Baptist, built in the first half of the 19th century, is located there. Studánka sv. Jana Křtitele is a spring on Stražiště whose water was believed to have healing properties. Pilgrimages to the spring below Stražiště take place on the last Sunday in June.

Culture and History

The first written mention of Bratřice dates from 1273. The Kaplička is a square village chapel from the first half of the 19th century and is listed as an immovable cultural monument. It stands in the middle of Bratřice village square in a park-like setting. Provaznictví at Bratřice No. 51 includes a small rural farmstead from the early 20th century with an attached rope-making workshop. Near the settlement of Cetule lies the former Jarolímka glassworks, which operated for more than 40 years.
