Útěchovice lies in the western part of the Bohemian-Moravian Highlands, in surroundings typical of its foothill landscape. The area has high natural value and is not characterized by industrial use.

Nature and settlement pattern

The Útěchovický potok stream flows through Útěchovice and through the middle of its cadastral area. The Bořetický potok stream also flows through the northwestern part of the cadastral area. The village is predominantly characterized by Franconian-type farmsteads with enclosed courtyards as well as residential and farm buildings.

Getting around

Útěchovice is located on the Class III road III/11235. The village is not connected to the ČD railway network. Cycle Route 1218 runs through Útěchovice and continues via Miločtíky to Červená Řečice.

Culture and history

A monument to the victims of the First World War of 1914 to 1918 stands next to the chapel on the village square. The first written reference to Útěchovice dates from 1301. The village has a horseshoe-shaped, not fully circular settlement layout. Northwest of Útěchovice lies the reconstructed former Račín water mill, which is believed to have existed as early as before 1712.
