Culture and History

Březina Château consists of a château building with a Baroque chapel, an enclosed courtyard, and an adjoining château park. Březina Château is a valuable example of a rural manor house with a history dating back to the 16th century. Hořepník’s prof. Bechyně Square is dominated by the Church of the Most Holy Trinity and the adjoining rectory. The bridge in Hořepník is considered one of the oldest bridges of its kind in Central Europe.

Around 228 gravestones have been preserved in the Hořepník Jewish Cemetery; the oldest dates from 1649. Due to its numerous Baroque and Neoclassical gravestones, the cemetery is considered valuable; it also includes a simple mortuary chapel. Tvrziště Konipasy preserves terrain traces of a former castle or fortress. A castle cellar has survived beneath the granaries built on the castle masonry.

Želivský Kláštor Monastery, Svatý Jan Church, and Svatá Anna Church are located in the vicinity of Hořepník. Orlík Ruins lie in the wider regional surroundings of Hořepník.

Water and Nature

The Trnava stream flows through Hořepník. The Trnava Natura 2000 site lies along the Trnava River; protected Eurasian otters (Lutra lutra) occur there.

Čertova skála in Mašovice is designated as a notable viewpoint within the municipality of Hořepník. Pod Medvědím in Mašovice consists of spring-fed meadows and wooded field margins where specially protected plant species occur.
