Zruc Nad Sázavou: Hotels and Accommodation

Two sightseeing tours are open to tourists in the south wing of Zruč nad Sázavou Castle. The two-kilometre educational trail through Zručský zámecký park has 14 stops covering the park’s historic monuments and the history of its last castle-owning family, the Schebeks.

Culture and History

The Hřbitovní kaple sv. Jakuba Většího is a brick burial chapel in the Empire style with a crypt; it was built in 1846. In the bailey area east of the castle building lies the complex of the Povýšení sv. Kříže Church. It comprises the church, a mortuary, and enclosing and retaining walls.

The Vodácké muzeum is located in Zručský dvůr, a former farm building belonging to the Schebek family. The “Baťovská Zruč” portal documents and presents personalities, objects, topics, and documents related to the history of the Baťa era and the subsequent shoemaking era in Zruč nad Sázavou. The interactive exhibition “Příběh řeky Sázavy” is housed in a former barn.

Nature and Trails

The 3.8-kilometre Zručská cyklostezka runs along the Sázava, connecting the new district of Zruč with the old district and continuing to Domahoř. It is suitable for cyclists, inline skaters, and pedestrians, as well as for cross-country skiers in winter.

The Zručská stezka to the Babka observation tower is seven kilometres long. It begins in Zruč nad Sázavou and leads to the Babka observation tower. Its 24-metre-high viewing platform offers views of Zruč nad Sázavou and the surrounding area.

Experiences

On the Stezka rytíře Miloty in the castle moat, visitors can try activities including axe throwing, archery, climbing a totem, crossing a horizontal beam, fishing, and skittles. Also located in the moat of Zruč nad Sázavou is the zábavně-naučná stezka rytíře Miloty z Kolowrat, an educational and adventure trail for children aged three and over.

The Naučná rybí stezka at Na Rybárně in Zruč nad Sázavou offers play elements, secret missions, and puzzles. In an entertaining way, it teaches visitors about fish from rivers, ponds, and streams.

A car park is located approximately 200 metres from Zruč nad Sázavou Castle. The castle and the information centre are accessible to people with disabilities.
