Drobovice: Hotels and Accommodations

Around 1240, Jan z Polné founded the commandery of the German Order in Drobovice. In the Middle Ages, written sources describe it as an important institution as well as an extensive and representative building complex.

The defunct commandery was located in the southern part of Drobovice on the left bank of the Čáslavka, also known as the Brslenka, in the area extending from the cemetery to beyond the Mlýnský potok stream. It was destroyed by the Hussites in 1421. Today, no above-ground remains of the commandery or its fortifications are visible on the site.

In 1356, Emperor Charles IV granted the monastery in Drobovice the right to impose the death penalty. Since then, executions by hanging took place on the Bambousek hill, also known as Šibeniční vrch (“Gallows Hill”).

“Pálení čarodějnic” is a traditional event in Drobovice held in April. “Dětský den – setkání rodáků” is a traditional event in Drobovice held on the last Saturday in May. “Rozloučení s prázdninami” is a traditional event in Drobovice held on the last Saturday in August. The “Rozsvěcení stromečku” event took place on December 2, 2017, and December 1, 2018.

Near Drobovice, the Brslenka flows into the Dubí pond. A green-marked hiking trail starting in Čáslav passes by Drobovice.
