Dobrovítov: Hotels and accommodation
Culture and history
The branch church of St. Wenceslas in Dobrovítov was first mentioned in a church register from 1350, dating from the reign of Charles IV. The small windows in the tower are probably interpreted as former loopholes; this suggests that the tower previously served a defensive function.
East of the Church of St. Wenceslas lies a hill with filled-in cellars, which is considered the site of the original fortress. The historic village landscape also includes a synagogue that was established in a former granary. Jews from the surrounding communities gathered there for worship on Saturdays and holidays. The former synagogue remained in use until 1924 and was then converted into summer apartments.
Nature and landscape
Dobrovítov lies at the foot of the Železné hory, surrounded by beautiful, healthy forests. The Jánský potok natural monument is located 1 km southeast of the village. It runs through a shallow, wooded valley and feeds a shallow, partly silted-up pond there.
The natural monument protects aquatic and meadow ecosystems with significant and specially protected plant and animal species, particularly a population of Eurasian minnows.
Getting around
In the settlements, public bus stops are no more than a four-minute walk away; this corresponds to a walking distance or radius of 350 m. No marked hiking or cycling route runs through the Dobrovítov planning area.
The relatively low intensity of motor vehicle traffic, along with existing roads and agricultural and forestry tracks, makes Dobrovítov suitable for both short trips and relaxing bike rides.
Geographical setting
Mount Ostojovka [Ledeč nad Sázavou-Souboř] is located in the vicinity of Dobrovítov. Nearby are the hill (Občiny) [Dobrovítov-Dědice] and Na Skále Hill [Zbýšov-Krchlebská Lhota].
