The city of Bolnissi is home to Bolnisi Sioni, a three-nave basilica dating from the 5th century. It is notable for containing some of the oldest known fragments of the Georgian script, has held the status of an immovable cultural monument of national significance since 2006, and continues to be used for liturgical services.
