The Pizunda pine grove is a relic of the ancient Crimean-Caucasian flora. It covers 200 hectares and stretches for 7 kilometers along the shore of the Black Sea.

Archaeologists discovered the remains of seven Christian churches in Pizunda. The Patriarchal Cathedral of Pizunda was built in the late 10th or early 11th century on the ruins of an earlier cathedral.
The oldest identified building in the Great Pitiunt complex is the episcopal see of Bishop Stratophilus, who took part in the Council of Nicaea in 325. The Great Pitiunt complex in Pizunda preserves temple buildings from different periods and architectural styles.
