Vizsoly played a significant role in the history of the Reformation: a printing press was established there in the late 16th century, and the first Hungarian-language Bible was printed there in 1590.

The Reformed Church of Vizsoly houses one of approximately 20 surviving copies of the Bible; a small Bible museum is attached to the church.

Geographical setting

Vizsoly lies in the valley of the Hernád River, on its left bank. Main road no. 3713 runs through Vizsoly. Korlát-Vizsoly railway station, located south of the village, is connected to the railway line between Abaújszántó and Hidasnémeti.
