Nature

Protected plants and rare bird species occur in the protected area. The protected area can be reached by leaving Jásztelek in a southerly direction and turning at the junction toward Pusztamizse; it is marked by a carved wooden sign.

The artificially created former river channel is approximately 3 kilometers long and covers around 9 hectares. Fishing is permitted in forms aimed at preserving the natural values.

Culture

The present-day Roman Catholic church was built in 1765 after the older chapel had been demolished. The Roman Catholic church on Erzsébet tér is oriented east–west, as is characteristic of medieval church construction. The painting on the church’s main altar depicts Saint Martin and was painted by Antal Peski in 1862.

The Tájház of Jásztelek is located in a residential building from the mid-19th century. The Havas-Boldogasszony Chapel stands on the outskirts of Jásztelek between fields, trees, and shrubs and is in very poor condition.

History

During archaeological excavations on the outskirts of Jásztelek, a hunting hut with a diameter of 5.20 meters was discovered in a Mesolithic layer; it probably dates from around 7000 BC.

Hegyes-halom is a hill in the immediate vicinity of Jásztelek. Lyukas-halom is a hill in the vicinity of Jásztelek, as is Nagyhalom. Pap-halom is a hill in the wider regional surroundings of Jásztelek.
