History

The former medieval church on Zámorhegy was converted into a hermitage in 1758; the existing church ruins were incorporated in the process.

The hermitage comprised a church and the adjoining dwelling of the hermit under one roof.

Medieval documents mention Pusztazámor among the earliest recorded settlements; the mention is dated to the year 1044.

Pusztazámor is described as a small settlement at the foot of Zámorhegy.

After the hermitage had stood empty for more than a century, it was restored in 1924. In 1944, its building suffered severe damage.
