Dunaföldvár: Hotels and Accommodation

History and Culture

The Franciscan church dedicated to Saint Anne and the monastery, locally known as Barátok temploma, were built between 1703 and 1706 and renovated in the Baroque style in 1786. The church dedicated to Saint Helena, locally known as Öregtemplom, was built in the 1720s.

The Fafaragó Galéria in the castle courtyard opened in 1996 to showcase contemporary Hungarian wood carving, wood art and folk sculpture. The Dunaföldvári Tájház presents objects from everyday life and traditional costumes. It also illustrates a traditional dwelling from the Mezőföld region, with adobe walls, a thatched gable roof and a rammed-earth floor. The Dunaföldvári Tájház has a separate room available for craft and ethnographic activities for children and smaller groups.

The renovation of the Vár-negyed and the streets leading to it has enhanced Dunaföldvár’s historic town centre, which is under heritage protection. The green area around Szent-Ilona Church offers views of the Danube and the bridge rising above it.

Nature and Water

The waters of the Danube near Dunaföldvár are suitable for fishing and water sports. The ornithologically important Felső-tó lies on the northwestern boundary of Dunaföldvár and was placed under protection in 1975. The Solti Duna-ág is located in Bács-Kiskun County but belongs to Dunaföldvár and is considered a fishing area with carp, catfish and grass carp.
