What does the Pele-körút offer?
The Pele-körút is an interactive, playful educational trail about wildlife that leaves traces in the local environment. The 30-minute walk also covers plants, streams and geological history. It introduces indicators of stream pollution and 30 species of woody and herbaceous plants. Visitors interested in observing nature can explore several topics on a single walk.
The trail also offers insights into geological events in the Balaton Uplands over the past 500 million years. You can choose whether to explore the route on your own or request an expert-guided tour on a weekday. The trail is freely accessible every day; guided tours can be requested on weekdays.
What viewpoints and nature topics are there?
The Csákány-hegyi Kilátó lookout tower offers views of the Bakony Mountains and the eastern basin of Lake Balaton. The birdwatching hide at Madárles és kerékpáros pihenő offers a different perspective: from there, visitors can look across the reed beds and Lake Balaton towards Paloznak and Alsóörs.
The Csopak section of the Balatoni Bringakörút includes this ecological cycling rest area, with a nature trail and play equipment. The fountains built at springs are also among Csopak’s attractions. Both ordinary drinking water and carbonated spring water flow from them.
How is Csopak’s wine tradition expressed?
The traditional designation Csopaki refers to a wine made from Olaszrizling grapes. This grape variety has shaped the Csopak vineyards since the late 19th century. In 2012, Csopak winemakers established the Csopaki Kódex. Its aim was to protect local viticulture and wine culture, as well as the good reputation and excellent quality of the traditional Csopaki wine.
Tóth Pince adds a historic building and a small collection to this wine tradition. The stone-vaulted winery, with clay mortar between the stones, was built in 1837. Tóth Pince offers wine tastings and wine sales at the winery throughout the year; both are by prior appointment.
The attic houses a small local history exhibition with a wine collection. It displays traditional everyday objects belonging to reed cutters, winemakers, grape growers, blacksmiths and coopers. The collection also includes a unique shoemaker’s tool set and kitchen items from the beginning of the 20th century, drawn from the family heritage and collection. Viticulture is thus presented alongside other local crafts and aspects of everyday life.
What local history can you discover?
Plul Mill has been preserved as an industrial monument and houses a local history collection. Another historic landmark is the Angolkisasszonyok nyaralója. It was the holiday home of the Sisters of Notre Dame for their teachers in Csopak and was built around the turn of the 20th century. Those interested in local history can visit these two places as well as the collections at Tóth Pince.
