Culture
The medieval church stands in the center of Berhida, on the town's main road.
It was built in the late 13th or early 14th century in the late Romanesque style, remodeled in the Gothic style in the late 14th century, and has a tower entrance dated 1638.
The medieval church was regarded as a building of architectural and art-historical significance; its unusual stone roof construction was noteworthy.
In the second half of the 16th century, the church was converted into a fortified church, which was connected with the defense system of Várpalota Castle. The substantial reinforcement of the walls carried out during this adaptation has been preserved.
Historical records mention Berhida as a village of the Diocese of Veszprém by 1363 at the latest.
The settlement was probably already in the possession of the diocese from the 12th century onward.
