Culture and History
Services were held in Lithuanian and German at the Lutheran house of prayer in Margiškiai. The former primary school in Margiškiai was attended by children from Margiškiai and the neighboring villages of Laužininkai and Urviniai.
The church in Margiškiai has not survived; it burned down at the beginning of the 20th century. The Margiškiai estate existed until the beginning of the 20th century; then five brothers from the Nasvyčiai family bought it and divided it among themselves.
The historic settlement of Ariškėnai, whose site today includes Margiškiai among other places, probably already existed in the late 14th or early 15th century, or emerged after the older settlement of Ariškiai had split.
Around 2015, after an overgrown and neglected area had been cleared, the former site of Margiškiai became a meeting place for former residents and an attractive place to visit. The old cemetery of Margiškiai lies northeast of the former site.
