Beach and Coast

Petrovac Beach features predominantly reddish sand, a developed waterfront with a promenade, and a listed length of approximately 600 metres. Those wishing to book a hotel in Petrovac Na Moru can then continue their accommodation search.

Lučice is a sandy beach 500 metres south of Petrovac. It lies in a bay lined with cypress and pine forests. Approximately 2 kilometres from Petrovac is the marshy Buljaričko polje, a nature reserve for rare plant and bird species.

Harbour

Kastio is the local name for a Venetian fortress from the 16th century, built above the present-day harbour of Petrovac. Pristanište Petrovac is located at the western end of Petrovac’s waterfront. The facility offers seasonal opportunities for ships to land and moor; 45 metres of operational quay are used for landing and 80 metres for mooring.

The formerly abandoned Kastio Lazaret was revitalised with a landing stage and hospitality facilities.

Culture

Spomen dom Crvena komuna is a cultural events centre in Petrovac. Spomen dom Petrovac houses the Museum of the Revolution; the art gallery there is named after the painter Marko K. Gregović. Spomen dom Petrovac also hosts programmes in drama, visual arts and music, especially in summer.

Petrovac is home to the churches of St Thomas and St Elijah, both of which date from the 14th to 15th centuries. Near Petrovac stands the Church of the Holy Cross in Novoselje, which was built in the 14th century and decorated with frescoes from the early 17th century. The Reževići Monastery near Petrovac comprises two churches and the remains of a third church.

The Mirišta archaeological site in Petrovac contains two late antique Roman mosaics, presumably floor ornamentation from a building dating from the 3rd or 4th century. A late antique mosaic in Petrovac is probably dated to the middle of the 4th century and combines late antique and early Christian artistic traditions. Its rectangular composition is divided into twelve equal-sized fields.

Trails

The hiking trail to Perazića Do is paved and protected by walls on either side. The route from Petrovac to Perazića Do continues towards Reževići Monastery; this section is stated to be 3 kilometres long with an ascent of 150 metres.
