At the time, the “Barbara” partisan battalion of the 16th Infantry Regiment of the Polish Home Army, commanded by Captain Eugeniusz Antoni Borowski, “Leliwa,” faced German forces. During the pacification action in Jamna in September 1944, 57 people died. Patriotic memorial ceremonies are held on the last Sunday in September to commemorate the victims. The church is also part of the cultural character of the place: it is dedicated to Our Lady of Jamna – Mother of Unfailing Hope. At Jamna’s highest point, the view opens across the Rożnów-Ciężkowice Foothills and the Beskid Sądecki to the panorama of the Tatra Mountains. This offers a different way to experience the landscape than the routes that cross the area: here, the emphasis is on the broad panorama, while on the routes it is on the trail and its individual sections.

The red hiking trail runs from the mountain hut past the church, across the plateau to Siekierczyna, where it turns onto a forest path. The yellow trail heads west to the PKS bus stop in Jamna and continues from there towards Jezioro Rożnowskie. If you plan to use the bus stop, check the current timetable.

The “Wielka Pętla Południowa” cycling route also passes through Jamna. Its stated loop runs via Zakliczyn, Zdonia, Słona, Olszowa, Jamna, Paleśnica, Dzierżaniny, Borowa, Ruda Kameralna, Filipowice, Stróże and Wesołów, returning to Zakliczyn. Check the local signposting before setting off. The third section of the “Barbara” partisan battalion trail is also relevant for hiking: it follows the Sucha Góra–Jamna–Bartkowa route through Jamna.

The blue route was planned as a loop from Jamna via Siekierczyna and Bukowiec, then through the Paleśnianka Valley and back to Jamna. Because permission to mark the route on private land was not granted, only the first section was completed. Therefore, do not plan on the entire loop as a route that has been fully implemented.
