Nowa Morawa is a village in the municipality of Stronie ÅšlÄ…skie near the Czech border.

Nature and Landscape

The settlement is located in a narrow, deep valley along the upper course of the Morawka River, at an altitude of approximately 600 to 680 meters above sea level.

The valley separates the Bialskie Mountains from the Śnieżnik Massif. Mountain forests dominated by spruce surround the settlement, which is also located on the boundary of the Śnieżnicki Landscape Park; the valley floor consists mainly of meadows.

History and Character of the Village

Historically, difficult conditions for agriculture led residents to work in forestry and crafts. Wood processing was a notable local activity; a sawmill is recorded in the village for the year 1684.

The village was founded on chamber estates in or shortly before 1596. Its origins are associated either with mining activity in former Wilhelmsthal (Bolesławów) or with colonization from the Czech region of Moravia.
